I set up my studio in 2014, named after my Grandmothers Irene & Edith based in the Makers Courtyard at Parc Glynllifon near Caernarfon as a calming space to explore creativity. My making process is a combination of press moulding and coiling. Using rough, tactile clay such as Crank or Grogged stoneware to build statement forms, taking time to clean and smooth the work to give defined lines. Using luxurious, rich glazes and a gold lustre finish contrasts against the organic surface. I enjoy the engagement of the viewer as the pieces catches the eye and tactile nature invites the surface to be touched and investigated further.

My love of ceramics started while studying at Cambrian Institute of the Arts for a BA in Contemporary Applied Arts. The pottery studio environment and the tactile nature of working with clay drew me in and even while living in London for ten years I used evening pottery classes as my escape and therapy from hectic day to day life.

A few years ago I took a leap to move to the Llyn Peninsula and commit to a more creative lifestyle, the strong contrast of mountains and the coastline is an ever changing source of inspiration and joy to embrace the beauty this corner of Wales holds.

I continue to explore and develop my creative practice experimenting with porcelain, delicately refining and sculpting this beautiful material, also investigating the possibilities of slip casting, mixing colour stains and looking into forms that can be reproduced.
